What to avoid when looking at exiting our Timeshare

Most Timeshare companies will not offer to help you exit your Timeshare and even companies that appear to be consumer bodies or Timeshare Trade bodies will recommend companies that can help you, knowing that these companies are not as they portray themselves. Caution needs to be taken when dealing with these Timeshare extrication companies.

• “It’s guaranteed!” There are no guarantees in life, just death & taxes.

• “It´s absolutely FREE!” Ask yourself, “How can a company make its money to survive?” If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

• “All you pay is for the advert!” Companies that charge a marketing, listing or advertising fee are contravening the 2011 EU legislation which came into force on 23rd February 2011. Members of so-called Timeshare consumer bodies are still contravening the Timeshare legislation. They are breaking the law!

• “Your exit is finalised! You just need to pay the legal fees!” One common scam is where a company cold calls a Timeshare owner and offers to exit their ownership. They charge no money to start with but the Timeshare owner receives another phone call some time later to give them the news that their Timeshare has been exited. The caller just requires funds to complete the transaction.
